What is Mimosa Hostilis (MHRB)?
For new users of this product, Mimosa tenuiflora, also known as Jurema Preta, Tepezcohuite, or Mimosa Hostilis, is a perennial shrub or tree in the genus Mimosa. This plant is commonly found in Brazil and extends to Mexico, Central America, and Venezuela.
These trees thrive well in tropical dry to semi-arid environments. They grow up to 8m tall within 5 years, with finely pinnate leaves about 5cm long and white flower spikes about 4 to 8cm long. Harvesting this Jurema preta root bark is a simple and careful process. Our partners in Brazil only harvest mature Mimosa tenuiflora trees ethically to avoid killing the tree. Small cuts or extracts are made from this DMT tree bark while leaving the core intact for regrowth.
These barks are thoroughly washed to remove all dirts on it and allowed to dry with ventilation for prevention of mold or loss of its key properties.
The process of drying the bark extract takes roughly about 4 to 8 days on average in our shades to preserve its key properties like we earlier mentioned. To get the Mimosa root bark powder, we use large steel grinders to get this jurema preta powder in a very fine texture.
